Welcome to The Challenge @ Goat Hill, the first PDGA-sanctioned disc golf tournament to be held at Center City Golf Course @ Goat Hill, in Oceanside, CA. This event will anchor your July 4th weekend in 2011, with a full day of disc golf competition, organized to allow players to enjoy their own competition, as well as sharing the excitement of their friends' competiton on the par-63 Goat Hill layout. You will be playing 2 rounds of 18 holes, with some modifications of the layout occurring between rounds. The start of play will be done using tee times, in order to allow more players to play and to give players ample time between rounds to get lunch, rest and re-charge, before going back out to throuw lots of loooong shots.
The Challenge @ Goat Hill is a PDGA-sanctioned C-tier tournament, and is part of the SoCal Series of disc golf tournaments (pending). As such, players will receive round ratings and earn points for both PDGA and SoCal. All registration is being handled online at DiscGolfU.com, providing lower registration handling fees than other on-line registration processors. Registration includes your greens fees and cart fees for two rounds of golf at Goat Hill.
Tee times for individual players will be posted as soon as possible after registration fills. The earliest groups (expected to be amateur divisions) will begin play at 7:30am, start their second round beginning around 11:30am-12:00pm. Awards for amateur divisions will be given out shortly after the last amateur group finishes. Pro divisions will begin 1st round play around 9:30am and start their second round at around 1:30pm to 2:00pm. This schedule should allow many players to follow the top Open Pro groups as they play the back 9 at Goat Hill, which should provide an exciting finish.
Details continue to be ironed out for the event, so this space will be updated as more information is available. What is known for sure though, is that this is your opportunity to play the longest, most challenging 18-hole layout in SoCal.
